Get Your Phone Addiction Under Control in October
This month I am undertaking my own personal phone sobriety challenge - and I invite you to get sober with me :-)
The thing with getting sober from your phone, it's a bit different from other substances or behaviours because you can't usually just go cold turkey. You still need your phone to call friends and family, arrange things etcetera BUT you can go cold turkey from addictive apps and behaviour.
SO be creative and create your own #SoberOctoberPhoneAddictionChallenge
It's been scientifically proven that pre-commitment, is beneficial in setting goals. So tell a friend, write it down, or email me with your own sober challenge.
A few ideas...
Uninstall an addictive app for 31 days - Pick one app that saps your time and energy and uninstall it for October. So you don't miss out on anything important, you might like to DM or share a post so people know what you are up to.
Set Aside Sacred Time Every Day - Set aside a window of time EVERY DAY for 31 days when you won't use your phone. For example between 7-9pm is a no phone zone. Use that time to do something else fun or creative.
Turn off Notifications - Do you receive notifications from the news or social media. Notifications are one of the key culprits for dopamine hits. Could you turn them off for 31 days?
Turn off 3G/4G - One of my friends said that when she's out and about she turns off 3G/4G so her phone becomes just a phone for calling and texting, no other distractions.
Don't take your phone into the bedroom - Charge your phone in the kitchen. The bright screen disrupts sleep, and then you inevitably check it first thing
What will you try for 31 days in October?
Have fun!
LOVE ALWAYS WINS

Being self employed I rely a lot on social media and also end up checking emails at all hours, when I really shouldn't! So... I'm going to uninstall Instagram and Facebook apps from my phone and turn my email notifications off. I figured if I need to make an announcement on social media, or check my emails, I can do it when I'm sat at my desk. I'm also going to leave my phone downstairs and not look at it until after breakfast. Our daughter comes in for snuggles every morning and she's started getting hold of our…
